For more than 70 years, Wycliffe has helped people around the world translate the Bible into their own languages.  The organization began in 1917 when a missionary named William Cameron Townsend went to Guatemala to sell Spanish Bibles and was shocked to learn that most people couldn't understand the Bible because they spoke Cakchiquel, a language without a Bible.  As a result he started a linguistics school to teach people how to translate the Bible and in 1942 founded Wycliffe Bible Translators.  Through their Vision 2025, Wycliffe hopes to have a Bible translation in process for every language that currently does not have one by 2025.
