Together We can Know Christ, Grow in Christ and Show Christ

Missions

As a Southern Baptist Church, we are committed to the Great Commission (Mt. 28:19-20) and to supporting missions. In one way, we do that through our financial giving in order to support the work of domestic and international missionaries. Here are those we support.

Annie Armstrong In March - Annie Armstrong Easter Offering

Annie Armstrong (1850-1938). Like the other missionaries described above, she is a tireless worker and servant of God who advocated and supported mission efforts. She was able to unite women in her cause that ultimately formed the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU). She served as the first corresponding secretary.

Annie was a strong believer in Christ and spent many hours typing and handwriting letters seeking support of missions. In one year she wrote over 18,000 letters! She helped out in various other means...hugging a child, distributing food and clothing, and sharing the Word of God. She was also a woman of prayer and with bible in hand she would intercede for the missionaries and for those who were also helping others to discover Christ.

Beulah Peoples In September - Beulah People's State Mission Offering

Beulah Peoples - A NEW ENGLAND MODEL SERVANT

During the Beulah Peoples high school years, she felt called by God to missions. She was raised in a christian home in Missouri. After high school, she went to the Southwest Baptist College in Missouri, the Oklahoma Baptist University and the Carver School of Mission and Social Work in Kentucky. While in New England, she worked with people in guiding churches in the New England states, she was involved missions--mission support, mission education, and mission ministry. She mentored and encouraged leaders at the Baptist Convention of New England where she became the Executive Director of Woman's Missionary Union and Church and Community Ministries Director for the Baptist Convention of New England from 1985. She retired in September of 1987 and returned to her home state of Missouri where she is still active in ministry in her church. It is because of her great love for the Lord and her commitment to missions that the state missions is named in her honor.
